Lineage Series
2022
Lineage is my fourth exhibition of new bodies of work since the pandemic started, and emerges from the thought experiments and emotions of these last two years. The sculptures in “LINEAGE” build upon my previous series, pulling gestures and changing them slightly, creating an infinite link of knowledge, learning, and refining. By continuously working with the same material, I’ve explored how it can be manipulated to express different patterns and emotions. The title also references one's own lineage and how the past helps to form who we are. Growing up in Ireland, the shapes and beauty of the coastline, the inlets, loughs, and small hills have been embedded in my consciousness and informs the sensibilities found within my work. You’ll see the titles even evoke their predecessors, a reminder perhaps that we’re never too far away from where we’ve come from. For me, that’s certain landscapes and ideas that continue to share their generosity with me.
